Recently, the 20th joint meeting of TC11 WG2&WG3 of the Mobile Internet Application and Terminal Technical Working Committee was held in Chongqing. The meeting was co-chaired by Ge Zhiyong, the leader of WG2, and Duo Hao, the leader of WG3, and nearly 100 delegates attended the meeting.
This joint meeting focused on discussing and reviewing the industry standard of "Application Adaptation Guidelines for Mobile Smart Terminals Based on Horizontal Folding Screens". On behalf of Vivo Standard, Gao Lifa made a theme report on "Application Design Optimization for Large-screen Devices". In recent years, the sales of folding screens have continued to maintain a steady growth trend, the market scale has gradually increased, and end users also have high expectations for the use experience of folding screen devices. While the folding screen hardware technology tends to mature, the software ecology still faces some experience problems. For example, the layout of the folding screen is chaotic, the images and text are abnormally enlarged, and the page is displayed abnormally, and other basic adaptation problems, as well as the failure to make full use of the special functions of large-screen scenarios such as split screen, floating window, and application multi-window. By promoting industry standards, it can effectively reduce the cost of adaptation for developers for multiple brands and devices, and developers can design and develop adaptation to large-screen devices in a more general way, and can realize applications across multiple brands and devices with a consistent and good user experience.
After the theme report, the drafting group of the CAICT and vivo experts introduced the draft of the "Application Adaptation Guide Based on Horizontal Folding Screen Mobile Smart Terminals", and the experts at the meeting made in-depth discussions on the layout specification of the folding screen, the optimization suggestions for the use of the folding screen, and the optimization of multi-task and multi-window scenarios, and the meeting decided to maintain the draft for comments.
In 2023, TC11 WG2 & WG3 will continue to focus on the pain points of application adaptation of folding screen devices, strive to reach an industry consensus on design optimization, development and debugging, form guiding documents, and unite all parties in the industry to jointly promote the healthy development of the large screen ecology.
