On July 11, 2024, under the guidance of the Information and Communications Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the "Seminar on Mobile Phone Recycling and Information Protection" hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "CAICT") was held in Beijing.
At the meeting, the CAICT conducted an in-depth analysis of the current situation and main problems faced by mobile phone recycling, and introduced the formulation plan of a series of standards such as "Technical Requirements for Personal Information Removal Capability of Mobile Smart Terminals" and "Information Security Service Management Requirements for Mobile Smart Terminal Recycling Trading Platform". The meeting focused on key issues such as information erasure capabilities, information security management capabilities, and data recovery services for mobile phone manufacturers and recycling service providers, and experts from Xiaomi, OPPO, Honor, vivo, Huawei, Zhuan Zhuan, Aihuishou, Xianyu and other companies participated in the discussion.
The meeting pointed out that mobile phone recycling is an important way to promote green and healthy development and circular economy development, and doing a good job in information protection is the key to protect the rights and interests of users. The first is to promote technological innovation and support the research and development of efficient, secure and verifiable data erasure technologies to ensure the privacy and security of personal information in the entire process of mobile phone recycling. The second is to strengthen active guidance, encourage mobile phone manufacturers and recycling service providers to adopt safe and reliable data erasure technology, standardize the prompting, identification, labeling, copying and verification of data erasure, and improve the trust of the industry. The third is to strengthen industry collaboration, promote the establishment of industry standards, build an evaluation and certification mechanism, and promote the application demonstration of data erasure effects.
In the next step, under the guidance of the Information and Communication Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology will continue to strengthen exchanges and discussions with the industry, jointly promote the development of key technological innovations and standards in the process of mobile phone recycling, and contribute wisdom and strength to the further promotion of the development of circular economy.
