On October 22-23, 2025, the 6th China-Japan Environmental Seminar on Electrical and Electronic Products was held in Suzhou. More than 60 people attended the meeting, including responsible officials of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, relevant persons in charge of the Information Industry Division of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, leaders of the CTTL Terminal Labs (CTTL-T) of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "CAICT"), and representatives of electrical and electronic industry associations, research institutions, production enterprises, testing and certification institutions and other units in China and Japan.

At the meeting, experts from the CTTL-T of the CAICT introduced the latest progress of the expansion of the catalogue of the management catalogue of hazardous substances in China's electrical and electronic products and the revision of the application exception list, and experts from research institutions and testing and certification institutions such as the China Institute of Electronics Standardization, the China Institute of Household Electrical Appliances, the Fifth Institute of Electronics of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the China Quality Certification Center respectively issued the mandatory national standard (GB 26572-2025) on the "Requirements for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products", Interpret and introduce the relevant testing methods and conformity assessment systems of hazardous substances. Representatives from the four Japan Electrical and Electronics Organizations (JEITA, JEMA, JBMIA, and CIAJ) presented the progress of environmental protection in Japan's electrical and electronics industry. Representatives of Chinese and Japanese enterprises, such as Lenovo (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Brother Industries Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Electric (China) Co., Ltd., shared their practical experience in promoting the green development of the electrical and electronic industry. The participants had in-depth exchanges on policies, regulations, standards, and technologies related to green environmental protection in the electrical and electronic industry. China and Japan unanimously stated that the two countries have a good foundation for cooperation in environmental fields such as the control of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, and the next step will be to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries at all levels such as government, industry, and enterprises, and jointly promote the green and high-quality development of the electrical and electronic industry.
The CTTL-T of the CAICT has long been engaged in green development and low-carbon research in the industrial and communication industries, as well as green and low-carbon environmental protection testing consulting in the electrical and electronic industry, supporting the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to carry out research on China's RoHS policy standards and the operation and maintenance of public service platforms. In the next step, CTTL-T will increase its support, carry out in-depth research on green and low-carbon development of the electrical and electronic industry, and make more contributions to the green and high-quality development of the industry.
