The CAICT released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in January 2026: 22.866 million units were shipped, of which 5G mobile phones accounted for 86.9%


1. The overall situation of the domestic mobile phone market

In January 2026, mobile phone shipments in the domestic market were 22.866 million units, down 16.1% year-on-year, of which 19.87 million 5G mobile phones were shipped, down 15.9% year-on-year, accounting for 86.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In January 2026, 37 new models of domestic mobile phones were launched, a year-on-year increase of 2.8%, of which 20 5G mobile phones were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 4.8%, accounting for 54.1% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

2. The composition of domestic and foreign brands in the domestic mobile phone market

In January 2026, domestic brand mobile phone shipments were 20.074 million units, down 12.1% year-on-year, accounting for 87.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 33 new models were launched by domestic brands, down 5.7% year-on-year, accounting for 89.2% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

3. The development of domestic smartphones

In January 2026, smartphone shipments were 20.696 million units, down 15.6% year-on-year, accounting for 90.5% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 32 new models of smartphones were launched, an increase of 28.0% year-on-year, accounting for 86.5% of the number of new models launched in the same period.
