The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in July 2025: 28.093 million units were shipped, of which 5G mobile phones accounted for 80.5%

1. The overall situation of the domestic mobile phone market

In July 2025, mobile phone shipments in the domestic market will be 28.093 million units, a year-on-year increase of 16.1%, of which 22.621 million 5G mobile phones will be shipped, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%, accounting for 80.5% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

From January to July 2025, the domestic market will ship 169 million mobile phones, down 1.1% year-on-year, of which 143 million 5G mobile phones will be shipped, down 1.2% year-on-year, accounting for 84.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In July 2025, 48 new models of domestic mobile phones were launched, a year-on-year increase of 65.5%, of which 23 5G mobile phones were launched, a year-on-year increase of 76.9%, accounting for 47.9% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

From January to July 2025, 286 new models of domestic mobile phones were launched, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%, of which 126 5G mobile phones were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%, accounting for 44.1% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

2. The composition of domestic and foreign brands in the domestic mobile phone market

In July 2025, domestic brand mobile phone shipments were 25.345 million units, a year-on-year increase of 16.1%, accounting for 90.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 45 new models were launched by domestic brands, a year-on-year increase of 60.7%, accounting for 93.8% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

From January to July 2025, domestic brand mobile phones were shipped, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%, accounting for 87.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 271 new models were launched by domestic brands, a year-on-year increase of 17.3%, accounting for 94.8% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

3. The development of domestic smartphones

In July 2025, smartphone shipments were 24.454 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%, accounting for 87.0% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 28 new models of smartphones were launched, a year-on-year increase of 55.6%, accounting for 58.3% of the number of new models launched in the same period.

From January to July 2025, smartphone shipments will be 154 million units, down 4.1% year-on-year, accounting for 91.3% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 181 new models of smartphones were launched, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%, accounting for 63.3% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.
