On June 30, 2025, the Australian Communications Union (CA) officially released AS/CA S042.1:2025 。 The new standard includes a 12-month transition period. On June 27, 2026, the Australian Communications Union released Amendment 1/2026 to AS/CA S042.1:2025, with the main revision being changing the name of the National Emergency Cell broadcast from the National Messaging System (NMS) to AusAlert. Currently, AS/CA S042.1:2025 and its amendment No. 1/2026 have both come into effect since June 30, 2026.
