On May 19, 2026, the Saudi Organization for Standards, Metrology and Quality (SASO) released the standard SASO 3114:2026, which will replace the existing specification SASO CITC GEN-002 in the Technical Regulations for Communication and Information Technology Equipment. SASO 3114:2026 covers a wide range of devices, including operator-owned and open access networks. Affected product categories include: mobile phones and tablets, mobile computers, routers and customer terminal devices (CPE), optical network terminals (ONT) and Home Access Gateways (HAG), Wi-Fi distribution devices, and other cellular network devices. The new standard sets a transition period, lasting until October 31, 2026. Starting from November 1, 2026, all new certificates of conformity must meet the requirements of SASO 3114:2026. Additionally, existing certificates issued under the old SASO CITC GEN-002 standard will expire no later than March 31, 2027.
