India: TEC conducts public consultation on revisions to the universal requirements for Wi-Fi access point devices


On July 7, 2026, the Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC) of India issued a public consultation seeking public input on the amendment to the General Requirements for Wi-Fi Access Point Equipment (TEC 38020: 2026). The key points of the revision are as follows:

  • Added Wi-Fi 6GHz band and Wi-Fi 7 standards, along with related parameters and technical requirements;
  • It is stipulated that if the device has passed Wi-Fi Alliance certification, the tested parameters can be exempted from TEC certification testing;
  • Require the device to meet the applicable Communication Equipment Security Assurance Requirements (ITSAR) requirements;
  • Updated cited safety standards and EMC standards to the latest versions.
