On April 2, 2024, the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) issued Circular No.4/2026 entitled "Control of the Importation, Type Approval and Distribution of Electronic Communications Equipments". ESCCOM announced that from April 13, 2026, the import and use of electronic communication equipment must hold a valid type approval certificate. By linking type approval to the customs clearance system, ESCCOM resolves compliance gaps that may have existed in the import process.
