UK: Ofcom opens public consultation on the 6GHz high frequency band

The UK Communications Authority (Ofcom) conducted a public consultation on the 6GHz band in February 2025. On April 13, 2026, Ofcom launched a public consultation on expanding access to the 6GHz high band (6425-7125MHz). Ofcom reiterated the following comments:

  • Low 160MHz (6425-6585 MHz): Wi-Fi priority;
  • High 540MHz (6585-7125 MHz): IMT priority. In addition to automatic frequency coordination (AFC), this band can also be used for Wi-Fi applications in the early stages
