On October 2, 2026, the Institute of Standards and Industry Malaysia (SIRIM) issued announcement SQASI/CMCS/1/26/010, outlining the certification requirements for three technical specifications for communication and hybrid equipment approved and released on August 4, 2026: 4G terminals (MCMC MTSFB TC T015:2026, 2nd revision), 4G base stations (MCMC MTSFB TC T023:2026), and aviation radio equipment (MCMC MTSFB TC T020:2026). The specifications have been published in the technical regulations register on the official website. The new regulations provide a 6-month transition period, with mandatory implementation starting February 4, 2027 (the transition period is calculated based on the release date of August 4, 2026).
- Certificate renewal requirements during the transition period are as follows: 4G terminal and base station original certificates can be renewed for up to one year; After February 4, 2027, renewal will no longer be supported; enterprises must submit a Parallel Comparison (PBC) application to update certification in conjunction with the MCMC MTSFB T022 basic requirements; Aviation radio equipment will continue to use the original renewal process;
- New application requirements: During the transition period, certification under the new standard is encouraged; the new application certificate under the old standard is valid for 1 year; For base station equipment, simulation reports can be used to verify compliance with MCMC MTSFB TC T023:2026 network interoperability.
