Panama: ASEP allocates new frequency bands for 5G


Based on the results of Public Consultation No. 002-2021, the National Public Service Administration (ASEP) of Panama issued an announcement numbered AN No. 19090-Telco on April 1, 2024 allocating the following spectrum for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) for personal communication services and cellular mobile phone services:

  • 1427 to 1518 MHz for n50;
  • 2300 – 2385 MHz, can be used for n40;
  • 24.25 – 27.5 GHz, can be used for n258.

Subsequent ASEPs will provide a transition period of 12 to 24 months for franchisees that have already allocated frequencies in these bands to migrate services to other bands.
