Canada: ISED incorporated IEC/IEEE 62209-1528 AMD1 into its regulatory framework

On September 21, 2026, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) issued Notice No. 2026-DRS0002, incorporating IEC/IEEE 62209-1528 AMD1 into its regulatory framework. ISED identified the following exclusions and confirmed that the following provisions will not be adopted:

  • 7.6 Considerations and subclauses regarding "Time-Period Averaged SAR" shall continue to follow Annex G in RSS-102.SAR.MEAS;
  • 7.9.3.1 e) Simplified testing of the head model test configuration based on psSAR results from the flat model test configuration (7.2.4.2);
  • 7.9.3.7 – Simplification of head model test configuration based on flat model SAR (ISED currently does not consider test simplification methods 7.9.3.1e and 7.9.3.7).
  • 7.11 – Devices and their subterms used for using the ear during voice calls shall continue to be subject to RSS-102 SAR. Section 5.10 and Annex E in MEAS.
