Hong Kong: OFCA publishes unmanned aerial system (UAS) and E-UTRA equipment type approval criteria

On August 27, 2025, the Communications Authority of Hong Kong (OFCA) released the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and E-UTRA Equipment Type Approval Criteria on its official website:

  • TAC 013 – Radio equipment for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in the 1430-1444 MHz band. The standard sets three equivalent omnidirectional radiated power (EIRP) levels: 42 dBm for Level 1, 35 dBm for Level 2, and 23 dBm for Level 3. The standard also specifies other key parameters such as channel bandwidth, frequency tolerance, adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR), and receiver selectivity. The standard refers to Regulation [2023] 252 issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
  • TAC 014 - E-UTRA user device requirements for the 1880-1920 MHz band. The device must operate in the 1880-1920 MHz non-paired frequency band. The technical requirements of the standard are consistent with standards such as ETSI EN 301 908-13 and 3GPP TS 36.521-1.
