Sri Lanka: TRCSL requires all model approvals to be processed through an online device customs clearance system
Officially published at:2026-10-01
Starting from September 30, 2026, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRCSL) of Sri Lanka has officially stopped accepting manual paper applications related to telecom model approval, mobile device customs clearance, and short-range device (SRD) authorization. Starting from October 1, 2026, all equipment applications must be processed uniformly through the online "Equipment Customs Clearance System" (ECS). This online platform covers services such as model approval applications, IMEI registration, and customs clearance for non-IMEI devices. Manufacturers and local agents must register and activate ECS platform accounts in advance to avoid delays when handling customs clearance and obtaining market access permits in Sri Lanka.
