Macau, China: CTT exempts mobile device type approval
Officially published at:2024-11-11On November 11, 2024, the Macao Special Administrative Region issued Law No. 21/2024. This new law allows CTT to exempt terminal devices using mobile networks, such as mobile phones, tablets or other devices using SIM cards, from the need for a license and type approval, in addition to the existing exemptions for low-power equipment (LPD) and short-range equipment (SRD). The law goes into effect on January 1, 2025.

Macau, China: CTT will stop 3G service
Officially published at:2024-12-05On December 5, 2024, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) announced that the Macao SAR Government will stop 3G services for four mobile communication service operators after their 3G licenses expire on June 4, 2025. To ensure a smooth transition, CTT encourages users who are still using 3G services to consider upgrading to 4G and 5G services as soon as possible.

Macau: CTT issued Directive 64/2024 for the 6 GHz band
Officially published at:2024-04-15On 15 April 2024, the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) published Directive No. 64/2024 on the website of the Macao SAR Government, amending Directive No. 198/2014 on low-power short-range radiocommunication equipment. There are two main contents:
- SRD products operating in the 5925-6425 MHz band are exempt from government authorization
- the frequency bands used by radionavigation and radiolocation satellite system receivers are no longer restricted.
