Brazil: CONAMA has approved the new version of the RoHS regulation

Following the public consultation conducted in August 2025, on June 10, 2026, Brazil's National Environment Committee (CONAMA) approved a new RoHS resolution mandating restrictions on the use of 10 hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), including heavy metals and phthalates. The regulation aligns with international standards, requiring manufacturers and importers to register products in centralized databases, submit declarations of conformity, and apply specific labels. The compliance period is implemented in phases, ranging from immediate restrictions on certain flame retardants to a four-year transition period for paraphthalates. This regulation has not yet been published in government gazette ; the effective date and transition period will be subject to subsequent government gazette.
