South Korea: RRA seeks comments on technical standards for network cameras (IP cameras) and potential test exemptions
Officially published at:2026-09-15On September 15, 2026, the Korea National Radio Research Agency (RRA) launched a public consultation on a proposed draft amendment to the "Technical Standards for Terminal Equipment." The proposal aims to clarify the regulatory scope for IP-based video surveillance equipment (i.e., network cameras); At the same time, if the relevant requirements overlap with existing information security certification tests, the proposal considers exemptions for certain technical testing items. This move aims to optimize the applicability of terminal device-related requirements and is expected to avoid repeated compliance assessments. Since the proposal is still under consultation, the current requirements remain in effect until the revision is finalized.

South Korea: RRA abolishes two SAR measurement standards
Officially published at:2026-08-26On August 26, 2026, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) of Korea issued Notice No. 2026-6, abolishing two national standards for specific absorption rate (SAR) measurement procedures. The two standards to be abolished are as follows:
- KS C 3370-1:2022, SAR evaluation measurement procedure for radio devices used near the ear;
- KS C 3370-2:2022, SAR assessment measurement procedure for radio devices used in close proximity to the human body.
The RRA notified that KS C 3350:2024 replace the two standards mentioned above.

South Korea: RRA issues a revised notice for 5G NR standards
Officially published at:2026-07-21On July 21, 2026, the Korea Radio Research Agency (RRA) issued a notice confirming the completion of revisions to the conduction test method for KS X 3270 5G NR communication equipment. This revision makes significant changes to the 5G NR specification while maintaining the existing LTE band configuration. The updated notice expands 5G NR frequency support from two bands to six bands, adding bands n1, n3, n5, and n7. Additionally, 5G NR will now support both Time Division Duplex (TDD) and Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) communication modes, whereas previously only TDD was allowed.
The revised requirements will take effect on July 24, 2026.

South Korea: MSIT issued Announcement No. 2026-9 to increase the power limit of 6GHz Wi-Fi
Officially published at:2026-02-10On February 10, 2026, South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) issued Announcement No. 2026-9, revising the technical standards for license-exempt radio equipment to support industrial infrastructure construction and improve user convenience. The main revisions are as follows:
- Wi-Fi 7 (6GHz band): Increased power limits for indoor and metro environments to enhance high-speed connectivity, with 1W EIRP allowed indoors and in subway cars in the 5925-6425MHz band, compared to the previous 0.5W EIRP in this band; 0.5W EIRP remains unchanged in the 6425-7125MHz band indoor environment;
- Advanced Bluetooth: Updated technical standards to include new radio transmission formats used by the latest Bluetooth technology;
- Ultra-wideband (UWB) and positioning: Improve the requirements of ultra-wideband (UWB) and positioning technology to ensure the accuracy and energy efficiency of data transmission.

South Korea: RRA revises electromagnetic compatibility regulations to introduce width radiated immunity
Officially published at:2025-12-31Following the public consultation on October 20, 2025, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) issued Announcement No. 2025-22 on December 31, 2025, amending the Electromagnetic Wave Conformity Standard regulations to add broadband radiated immunity testing to the immunity section of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Limits for Multimedia Equipment in Annex 12. The background of this revision is that the platform safety gate system is affected by 5G communication interference failure, so the radiation immunity test of 3.4GHz-3.7GHz should be added. There are five test levels of 20V/m, 28V/m, 38V/m, 56V/m and 80V/m, and are based on the international standard IEC 61000-4-41.

South Korea: RRA issues Notice No. 2025-9 updating SAR testing standards
Officially published at:2025-12-05On December 5, 2025, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) of Korea issued Notice No. 2025-9 to revise the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Measurement Standard. The announcement will be officially implemented on April 1, 2026, and existing equipment that complies with the old standard can continue to be considered compliant.
The revised standard takes the national standard KS C 3350 as the core, replacing the original KS C 3370-1 and KS C 3370-2 for the head and body/limbs, respectively, and unifies the SAR measurement method into a comprehensive measurement procedure based on IEC/IEEE 62209-1528:2020. At the same time, it is clear that this standard is applicable to SAR measurement stipulated in Article 4 of the "Electromagnetic Wave Human Protection Standard", and the names and provisions of the quoted standardization organizations are re-aligned.
