Korea launched a public consultation on SAR standards for wireless products


On August 23, 2024, the Korea Standards & Certification website published Circular No. 2024-71 to launch a public consultation on the procedure for evaluating the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of wireless communication devices used close to the human body.

South Korea: MIST conducts public consultation on updates to technical standards for license-exempt radio equipment


On April 29, 2024, the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology (MSIT) of the Republic of Korea issued Draft Announcement No. 2024-0479 to solicit public comments on the draft amendments to the Circular No. 2016-89 for Exemption from Licensing Equipment.

The proposed amendments relate to Article 7 of Announcement 2016-89, which requires an increase in the occupied bandwidth of certain low-power wireless devices for wireless access systems, including wireless LANs in the 6GHz band. For the frequency bands 5925~6425MHz, 5925~7125MHz, and 5925~6425MHz, it is recommended to increase the occupied bandwidth below 160MHz to below 320MHz.

South Korea's RRA updates its regulations for conformity assessment of broadcasting and communication equipment


On December 29, 2023, the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) of South Korea issued a circular numbered 2023-24 updating the conformity assessment rules for broadcasting and communication equipment. The regulatory amendments, which include exemptions from the conformity assessment procedure for equipment imported for re-export. The new regulation is now in force.
