On August 20, 2026, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued announcement number DA 26-870, announcing amendments to the power inverter entry on the covered list. The definition of power inverters has been revised to UL 1741 for public interactive grid-tied inverters, but networking functions are not limited to pre-installed communication modules at the factory; they also apply to hardware design reserved interfaces and slots where remote communication components can be added later. Some foreign-produced power inverters have been recognized as not threatening national security and meet any of the following conditions to be exempt from covered list control:

  • Qualifies for the 26 U.S.C. §45X Advanced Manufacturing Tax Credit;
  • Meets the domestic final product standard of 'Buy American Goods' (by 2028, domestic modules must account for more than 65%; From 2029, it will exceed 75%);

On August 20, 2026, the French National Frequency Authority (ANFR) published a notice on its official website requesting VARROT ACCESSOIRES to recall the ESEEK GPS HOUND TRACKER GD03 dog collar from the French market due to violations of radio frequency usage regulations.

As part of its radio equipment market regulatory mission, ANFR inspected a GPS HOUND TRACKER GD03 model dog collar sold under the ESEEK brand. The collar was manufactured by Shenzhen Yixie Electronics Co., Ltd. and launched in the French market by VARROT ACCESSOIRES. The inspection revealed multiple defects, including unauthorized frequency use, incomplete conformity assessment procedures and technical documentation, power exceeding authorized ranges, and non-compliance with frequency usage technical conditions.

Since no measures were taken to stop the situation, ANFR decided to request a recall of the GPS HOUND TRACKER GD03 model under the ESEEK brand. Since the manufacturer did not respond or instruct them, the dealer was required to proactively recall the device.

On August 13, 2026, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) issued a notice announcing the official launch of a public consultation process for the EU Cybersecurity Act (CRA) supporting standards, releasing 17 technical specification drafts covering key digital products such as wearable devices, smart toys, internet routers, operating systems, smart homes, password managers, antivirus software, and virtual private networks (VPNs). These EN 304 XXX standards aim to provide a compliance framework for CRA, such as the antivirus software draft specifying the configuration path for "default security." According to the CRA timeline, starting September 11, 2026, relevant manufacturers must promptly report exploited vulnerabilities or serious security incidents through the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA)'s unified reporting platform, with comprehensive compliance requirements set to take effect by the end of 2027.

On August 12, 2026, Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) issued Act No. 10400/2026, bringing significant changes to the regulatory requirements for Wi-Fi equipment using the 6 GHz band. This act amends Law No. 14448 and narrows the frequency range currently allowed for Wi-Fi to operate within the 6 GHz band. Under the new requirements, the 6425–7125 MHz band will no longer be used for Wi-Fi operations. ANATEL plans to reserve the 6 GHz high band for IMT mobile communication services (including 5G-A and 6G networks), while aligning with international spectrum policies following WRC-23 (the 2023 World Radio Communication Congress).

The regulations have now been issued and are in effect, with a mandatory enforcement date set for March 1, 2027. For existing ANATEL certified products whose validity period has exceeded this date, the certificate renewal process will require compliance with the new frequency range requirements, and attention should be paid to shutting down the relevant bands.
